Guba carpets feature patterns with intricate medallions that cover the entire length of the carpet. The borders surrounding the main field are enriched with various motifs, leaving very little space unfilled.

On the other hand, Shirvan carpets are characterized by notable symbolic representations that have evolved over thousands of years and are closely associated with concepts and images of folk legends and the buta motif. Some pictorial scenes in Shirvan carpets are identical to the rock drawings of Gobustan.

The Baku group of carpets is known for their softness and intense colors combined with original geometric patterns and plant motifs, such as palmettes, stems, and leaves. They often display medallions of various shapes and occasionally include rhombuses with hooks as ornaments.
